I have worked at Couts for 25 years, I started as a sheet metal journeyman working at Palm Springs Airport. I enjoyed working on Couts projects and a few years later became a foreman. As Couts started growing and the industry started to need safety professionals, I was asked if I would take a safety position. I said yes. I went to school at California State University Dominguez Hills and received certificates of completion in Certified Safety and Health Official Construction and Advanced Safety and Health General Industry. I am a certified trainer in forklift, scissor lift, fall protection and confined space.
Born in San Bernardino CA, I grew up in Orange County. My dad was a veterinarian and I learned how to work at a young age, cleaning up after dogs, cats, and many other tasks. I have been married to my wonderful wife for 29 years. We have two great kids, son 26 and daughter 23.
Pastimes, I enjoy hiking and have been to the top of Mount Whitney twice and five of the highest peaks in Southern California. Another pastime is bicycle riding and have ridden the Bike MS 150-mile weekend twice and plan on riding again this year.
Safety: Couts is all in for safety from the top down. It’s a great position for a safety director when you have full support from the Couts team. A quote from our president, Chis Saltz: “We start with safety.” My goal is to keep all Couts employees and surrounding work forces safe and healthy.
